Welcome to the GW Landscape Committee website!
We are a group of parents, parents of alumni, and students who are inspired to make the grounds at George Washington High School even greener and more beautiful. We are proud to have designed and sponsored several projects around the school that have engaged hundreds of students, teachers, alumni and staff; and dramatically improved the campus landscape. Our mission is to make the campus more welcoming and lovely each year.
GW Campus Landscape Updates:
Beautiful New Apple Trellis in the GW Community Garden
If you haven’t seen it, make sure and stop by the GW Community Garden to check out the new espalier trellis. The trellis was designed and built by senior August Salbenblatt as his IB CAS project. August and his family donated all of the materials, plus their time and expertise to build a unique addition to the garden. The trellis will be used to train the apple trees to grow against the wall, saving space and producing more fruit for the cafeteria. A huge thank you to August and his family for leaving a lovely, lasting gift to the school.
Go Green Day 2024 was a huge success!
GW's 16th annual Go Green Day was a huge success, with good weather and an amazing turnout of volunteers. We were able to accomplish our objectives of planting 6 trees and mulching all of the newer trees on campus. Thanks to everyone who was involved, we couldn't do it with out your participation! Check back for a more detailed article about the day, and photos!
